However, the Alberta Co-op Board of Directors is looking to fill the following role:

Board Administrator 

Part Time, Mostly Remote

Wage: $26.75 per hour

The Alberta Cooperative Grocery  Board of Directors, a community owned, worker run grocery store  is looking for a Board Administrator.This role will assist the board of directors in fulfilling our obligations to the owners and membership. The person fulfilling the requirements of this role must be impartial to the deliberations and decisions of the board of directors.

The Administrator will provide services to and on behalf of the ACG board of directors. Services are as follows but not limited to the following scope:

  • Attend all Board meetings, which occur on the first Tuesday of each month.
  • Ensure minutes are taken for all membership and board meetings, and are available to all board members.
  • Maintain documents on the board’s electronic drive; including the board meeting agenda and minutes, board commitments, and election results.
  • Assemble and post/share the board meeting agenda packet and public agenda.
  • Update the ACG Policy Register, Bylaws, and Policy Monitoring Chart when appropriate.
  • Regularly check and respond to emails from board members.

Additional duties may include:

  • Providing an additional quotation on supplementary administration services beyond the standard scope.
  • Providing assistance during orientation and board retreats.

The Administrator needs to exhibit following qualities and experience:

  • Familiarity with the consensus process.
  • Deliberates with an equity lens.
  • Has at least 1 year of experience as a meeting or organizational facilitator.
  • Has an understanding of policy governance.
  • Able to read and interpret governing Bylaws.
  • Exhibit good judgement of sensitive information.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of organization.

Other required information for this position:

  • Able to set aside 1 hour per week total to respond to emails or requests from the board of directors as they relate to the standard scope of services.
  • Able to reliably utilize the Google Suite 
    • Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Gmail
  • Ability to reliably travel to the Board meeting location at least once per month.
    • Leaven Community Center in North Portland
  • Access to Adobe Acrobat Software to create the board packet and amend the public agenda.
  • Ensured access to the following devices;
    • Phone, Laptop, Printer
