Kitchen Worker/Commissary Coordinator

This is an afternoon/evening position that includes Saturdays and Sundays. Two of the shifts are primarily stocking the Perishables Department, while the others are cashiering with some side work and cleaning tasks.  The position is scheduled for 3-4 shifts per week, depending on worker preference, and requires at least 24 hours a week on average.

ACG is a collectively managed organization. This means that the workers run every aspect of the business–no boss necessary! In addition to providing excellent customer service, you’ll be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of a democratic workplace and help operate the store. Cashiering, stocking, answering customer questions, cleaning…you’ll do it all!

Our mission is to serve as a community resource and gathering place while providing fresh, high quality, affordable food to our North and Northeast Portland communities. We emphasize products from local, organic, and socially responsible sources, and work to build connections between our customers and their farmers.

If you don’t know much about coops or collective management, we’ll teach you! Prior experience isn’t as important as an interest in having a voice in the business and enthusiasm for taking on tasks and roles that a typical grocery store wouldn’t ask of you.

Compensation

  • $20.75/hour
  • 25% discount off groceries
  • 40% off supplements
  • Health, dental, and alternative care insurance for staff working at least 24 hours/week
  • Bonuses (when the business surpasses profit goals)

Applications will be accepted through Sunday March 22nd.
