Financial Coordinator/Advisor

The purpose of the Financial Coordinator position is to meet the long-term financial planning needs of the Alberta Cooperative Grocery, and to provide financial guidance to the staff at large. Some responsibilities include regular financial reporting to the staff and board of directors, assisting with budget creation and assessing margins for the various departments, and working closely with the finance team to ensure that accounting is accurate, timely, and meets all external requirements. 

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and preferably 2+ years of experience in financial coordination/advising or similar role. Experience in retail finances is also highly preferred. This is a 24 hour per week position. It is primarily in person with the ability to work remotely at times. This position is accountable to the Finance Team, SFPC, Collective Management, and Board Finance Committee.

In addition to providing financial services, you’ll be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of a democratic workplace and help operate the store. If you don’t know much about co-ops or collective management, we’ll teach you! Prior experience isn’t as important as an interest in having a voice in the business and enthusiasm for taking on tasks and roles that a typical grocery store wouldn’t ask of you. 

Compensation 

  • $25-30/hour depending on experience
